Book Week

Over Book Week, Parkhill turned into a Winter Wonderland of learning as the snow came to join. Over the week, the children fully immersed themselves into all things books!
We had lots of exciting events such as Travelling Book Fair, visiting the infants to read with them, story-telling at break times and all the adults swapped around to read with different classes. However, the most exciting day of all had to be Thursday, when everyone came to school dressed up as a book character. Parkhill was filled with magical characters from pirates to wizards! We also held a book swap, where the children donated books they no longer needed and were able to swap them for another one.
But what’s book week without competitions?! The Librarians and Book Keepers held some captivating competitions where every child had the opportunity to design a National Book Token and a new Parkhill bookmark. They also took part in a performance poetry contest and submitted pictures of themselves reading in the strangest most peculiar place. A whole class competition was also set where the Librarians and Book Keepers went on the hunt to find the most magical and dazzling book corner in the school.
We are already thoroughly looking forward to Book Week 2019!
