Parkhill had a fantastic time celebrating Book Week! The children and adults took part in a range of fun and exciting activities.
We started our days with a Big Booky Breakfast where children read to their parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts whilst enjoying a continental breakfast. Surely, there’s no better way to start the day!
During the school day:
· Every break time, the children listened to Mrs Hughes, Miss Sprenger and Mrs Patel read their favourite stories.
· All the teachers swapped classes and shared their favourite books.
· Year 2 came to visit the junior school to read to Year 5 and Year 6 visited the infants to read to Year 1.
· Every lunchtime, the children watched masterclass author and illustrator tutorials
On Thursday 7th March, the children and adults dressed up for World Book Day. The school was filled with book characters. From Matilda to Harry Potter; we had them all!
But the fun didn’t stop there, the children were able to enter in the annual competition: “Strange place to get caught reading”.
We also launched a brand new competition this year which was the Readathon. The class who read the most books in 2 weeks won 30 brand new books for their class book corner!
Last but not least, the children visited the Travelling Book Fair to buy their favourite books. They money raised, will be put towards buying brand new books for every classroom.
Enjoy learning and continue reading!
