Health and Safety Officers
Junior Health and Safety Officers (JHSO) (established in 2015)
Outstanding learning behaviours across our learning community is our priority. As a Rights Respecting School – Article 24 states:
“Every child has the right to the best possible health. Governments must work to provide good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment so that children can stay healthy. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.”
We have been awarded Safety Mark for the second time in a row due to our high standards and excellence in Health and Safety!
Our weekly staff meeting with Mrs Masters and Mr. Hamil, involves completing the weekly Health and Safety Walk. This includes completing a checklist to state that all classrooms and all work spaces have clear emergency exits and clear cupboards and are hazard free!
This report is emailed to all staff each week and remedial actions are followed up weekly. We inform all members of staff of any action points that need to be addressed. We also remind pupils and staff of their Health and Safety duties through assemblies and everyone knows that they can report any issues to us.
Each month we select the best Health and Safety class and the class receives a certificate. At the end of every meeting we remind each other that we must Be Safe! Be Alert! Be Aware!
