During the Autumn and Spring terms members of three pupil voice groups (Rights Respecting Ambassadors, Eco Warriors and Planet Protectors) are taking part in a borough-wide project called Redbridge Air Action.
The project aims to inform pupils and the wider community about the quality of our air and provide strategies to reduce our exposure to air pollution. This supports our right to a safe and clean environment as stated in article 24 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Our campaign started off with a whole school assembly and on Friday the children put up air diffuser test tubes around the local neighbourhood. These will collect air particles and give an indication of pollution levels. In two weeks time, we will take them down and we will analyse the results. Watch this space for what we find and for more activities as we continue with our campaign.
