| This term has seen the art club learn new skills and experiment with new media. We begun by doing some observational drawings from around the school grounds. We then used our drawings and created some water colour paintings. This was challenging because once you make the painting dark, you can’t really make it lighter again. Then came the exciting part- we were given a tester of silk and silk paint. Painting on silk is very different to paper. We had to put gutta on the silk to act as a barrier so the colours didn’t bleed into each other. On our large piece of silk, we had to stretch it on a frame first. This made it easier to paint on. It took us a while to complete our paintings because we had to paint a background too. |
