Rights Respecting Charters
The school has collaboratively produced class charters, a playground charter and a dining hall charter. The charters are an agreement which outline the expectations of a rights respecting school. Their aim is to make the Convention a real and meaningful guide to action on a day-to-day basis.
Class Charters
At the beginning of the academic year, each class produces their own class charter. Each charter is an agreement between the children and the adults in the class. It signifies a shared enterprise and acts as the ‘social glue’ which binds everyone together. Once the charter has been agreed all children and adults sign it and it becomes a reference for the class.
Dining Hall and Playground Charters
The charters use meaningful, age appropriate language to link the articles. They are used by all staff as a point of reference to promote children’s rights.
