English
Thank you to everyone who attended our English coffee morning! It was wonderful to see so many parents eager to support their children’s reading and writing at home. The highlight was our creative writing activity, where parents worked alongside their child to write and edit a short paragraph, learning hands-on techniques to inspire writing at home. We also shared tips on boosting reading skills and making reading fun. We found the session helpful and enjoyed connecting with other parents.

Maths
For the maths coffee morning, parents and children gathered together to know how children can be supported at home with maths. Parents had the opportunity to see first hand some of the maths resources children use to aid their learning.

National Poetry Day
It was fantastic to welcome so many enthusiastic parents and share ways of making poetry come to life with our voices and how poetry can be a great tool in getting children engaged in language.

Science
This term our science coffee morning had a focus on outdoor learning and encouraging curiosity in the world around us. As it is autumn and leaves are in a plentiful supply, we decided to be leaf detectives so we went outside into the school grounds. Using our enquiry skills, we made close observations of a variety of different leaves. We were then able to talk about the different features of leaves by using vocabulary such as veins, lopes, colours, evergreen and deciduous. We sounded very much like experts! This is one of the pillars of a High Performance Learners. Look out for our next adventure and come and join us!

Art – Big Draw
The art coffee morning was the grand finale to The Big Draw; a week in which the children have been enjoying Drawing in Motion! To fit in with this theme, we were creating flipbooks. We had to use our flexible thinking to solve the problem for creating movement on the sheets of paper and we are being agile as all of our flipbooks were different and original.
