As part of our drive to maintain, promote and engage pupil interest in reading, Parkhill celebrated Book Week from Monday 28th February – Friday 4th March. The children had a fantastic time taking part in lots of reading activities including, a teacher swap; reading sessions with Mrs Hughes, Mrs Tanner and Ms Uppal and children’s book swap. For World Book Day, the school was filled with book characters, as the children watched an online pantomime of Alice in Wonderland.
We also had two competitions running. Well done to Kaiden in 4G for winning the “Strange place to get caught reading” competition and a huge well done to 3M and 5MA for winning the Readathon.
Lastly, a big thank you to the community for helping the school raise £1600 from Travelling Book Fair. This money will be used to replenish the class book corners.
