Physical Education (PE) at Parkhill Junior School
We aim to encourage a lifetime love of sport and keeping fit to lead healthy, active lives. Our PE aspires to develop confidence, resilience, passion, respect and determination. It helps to improve their mental health and cognitive development as a result they will be more likely to concentrate and maintain focus in lessons. All children are given the opportunity to compete in sport and other demanding activities to build their character and talents (RRS article 29) in order to excel in a broad range of physical activities as well as help embed values such as respect and fairness. Not only does PE improve a child’s sporting skills but also it develops their communication, teamwork, leadership, creativity and problem-solving skills within a classroom setting as well as preparing them to be young global citizens.
Enjoy Learning and staying active!

English Vision
At Parkhill Junior School, we aim to deliver an English curriculum that is rich, relevant and enjoyable. We aspire to promote exceptional standards of literacy by equipping children with a confident command of the written and spoken word.
Article 12: Every child has the right to have a say in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously.
We endeavour to expand every child’s potential for skill and autonomy in the areas of reading, writing and articulacy, so they can succeed across the whole curriculum and communicate proficiently for a range of purposes.
Article 13 : Every child must be free to say what they think and to seek and receive all kinds of information, as long as it is within the law.
We actively encourage all children to read widely and often; to cultivate a deep appreciation and love of literature and to build on their knowledge of themselves and the world in which they live.
Article 3 : The best interests of the child must be a top priority in all things that affect children.
Intent
Our intent is to provide the children of Parkhill Junior School with a mathematics curriculum which equips children with a foundation for understanding number, reasoning, thinking logically, and problem solving with resilience so that they are fully prepared for the future.
At Parkhill, we strive for every child to become an able mathematician who is passionate, excited and are willing to take risks and challenge themselves to achieve their full potential (Article 28 – Every child has a right to an education).
