The sun shone on us for “Outdoor Learning Day” and the school grounds were a buzz with activity as children participated in their activities. The Year 3 children enjoyed planting out the salad vegetable crops such as lettuce, beetroot and spring onions to help them understand what conditions plants need to grow. In the playground, Year 4 children enjoyed a range of outdoor maths activities using nature as an inspiration. Later in the day, the grounds were filled with performance voices when the Year 5 children went outside to role play characters from their class book. Meanwhile, Year 6 children helped prepare the Parkhill Garden for the summer months to come. They weeded the sensory planters, dug over the raised beds and planted a salad crop which they will harvest next term as part of their D.T. project. We are all looking forward to getting outside more and using the school grounds to inspire our learning.
