In order to teach children how to edit, improve and redraft, we use a carousel. The teacher will set up 5 stations (1 per table) where each table has a different focus. The children rotate around the tables with their books and carry out a different editing skill e.g.
Table 1: Punctuation
Table 2: Use a dictionary to check spelling
Table 3: Uplevel vocabulary using a thesaurus
Table 4: Sentence structure – add in complex sentences
Table 5: Use expanded noun phrases
