Arts Week

Parkhill Juniors once again took part in Take One Picture for arts week. This project is run by the National Gallery but lead by our children using many HPL skills.
Throughout the week, across year groups, Parkhill went on a journey to Venice. Linking many curriculum subjects with the painting Regatta on the Central Canal by Canaletto.
Our high performance learners enjoyed a short daily art activity to improve different skills and learn new techniques.
“I enjoyed drawing Gondolas and gondoliers using shapes. I enjoyed making patterns around the leaf.” -Kanishka Y3

I enjoyed collaborating with my class to make a 3D collage. I became more patient because I had to wait for the paint to dry before including more details – Inayah Y4

“I enjoyed Arts Week because there were lots of creative activities like the continuous line drawing and the 10 minute activities. This required hard work, dedication and creativity.”- Krish Y5

“It’s nice to have the opportunity to learn about the artist and why they painted the picture. It was interesting to think about how tourism has changed compared with today,” – Aleeza Y6

We had the honour of being selected, out of the thousands of schools that participated in the project. You can see Parkhill’s work (Delft plates of Barkingside) on the website. Click on the link below:
