‘For Black History Month, we wrote poems, made masks, fact files and we even had African drumming lessons with Mrs Allegra! My favourite activity was writing the poem; there was a competition with an amazing opportunity to have your work published in a book that would be read by authors. We were also given the chance to create new ideas and be agile by thinking of ways to explore how to write an effective poem. When we made the masks we were empathetic when sharing our work, and the reasons why we chose specific colours.’ Simran 4A
