Parkhill Junior School Celebrates the Magic of Reading!
Parkhill Junior School was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated Book Week and World Book Day in true literary style! The week was packed with engaging activities, bringing our love of reading to life.
One of the highlights was “Once Upon a Cocoa,” where children and parents snuggled up in the library to share stories over delicious hot chocolate—a heartwarming way to enjoy the magic of books together. The Teacher Swap Reading event added a fun twist, as teachers visited different classes to share their favourite stories, keeping everyone on their toes with surprise storytelling sessions!
Years 6, 5, and 4 became reading buddies for the infants, fostering a love of books across year groups and creating special moments between younger and older children. The Travelling Book Fair was a huge success, giving children the chance to browse and buy books of their choice, igniting a passion for independent reading.
The grand finale? World Book Day Dress-Up! The school transformed into a parade of characters from beloved books, making the joy of reading truly come alive. It was a magical week, celebrating the power of stories and the adventures they take us on!
A huge thank you to all our parents for their support throughout the week—whether attending events, helping with costumes, or encouraging reading at home. Your involvement makes all the difference!
