Book Week

Parkhill had a fantastic time celebrating Book Week! The children and adults took part in a range of fun and exciting activities.

We started our days with a Big Booky Breakfast where children read to their parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts whilst enjoying some delicious treats. Surely, there’s no better way to start the day!

During the school day:

  • Year 2 came to visit the junior school to read to Year 5 and Year 6 visited the infants to read to Year 1.
  • Year 3 and 4 became reading buddies for the afternoon, where they shared their favourite books with another child.
  • Every lunchtime, the children watched masterclass author and illustrator tutorials.

On Thursday 5th March, the children and adults dressed up for World Book Day. The school was filled with book characters. From Matilda to Harry Potter; we had them all!

But the fun didn’t stop there, the children were able to enter in the annual competition: “Strange place to get caught reading”.

We also launched a competition called Readathon. The class who reads the most books in 2 weeks will win 30 brand new books for their class book corner!

Last but not least, the children visited the Travelling Book Fair to buy their favourite books. The money raised, will be put towards buying brand new books for every classroom.

Enjoy learning and continue reading!
